Big honour for little lounge

From the Edmonton Sun:
Suede named a top Canadian dining spot

Many young Edmontonians are already familiar with Suede, the swish little lounge on Jasper Avenue’s west end.

But the establishment has now been recognized nationally, making Wine Access magazine’s top 100 list of fine dining establishments in Canada in its latest edition.

Considering the competition in chic cities like Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto, it’s quite the compliment and well deserved at that.

“It was a complete surprise,” owner Jeff Koltek says of the honour. “We change the menu and the wine list at least twice a year. We like to change things up, keep things fresh (and) current and really make sure we’re trying to stay ahead of the game.”

So far, it’s a winning solution exercised by Koltek and his two partners, Neil Wolsegger and executive chef John Setterlund.

“I’m not from here and have spent some time in Toronto and Vancouver, and there’s a lot of really cool, funky rooms,” says Koltek.
