Book Review-The Story of Sushi, by Trevor Corson

You don’t need to be an adventurous eater in order to enjoy this colorful journey through the world of sushi. Trevor Corson has written a beautiful dedication to fish that includes a compelling mix of personal experience, marine biology and historical anecdote. Detailed descriptions of sumptuous fishes will leave sushi buffs salivating, omnivores curious and may even entice some picky-palates. What makes The Story of Sushi so enthralling is Corson’s narrative non-fiction approach that allows the reader to step inside the sushi classroom and learn along with the students. While researching for the book, Corson spent time observing a class at the California Sushi Academy. The students at the academy become characters in his book, and he uses their experiences to provide anecdote between the sushi biography. (more…)

Tableland by Craig Noble :: Movie Review

For two years, North America was a giant table to Craig Noble. Inspired by his sister and brother in law’s food and wine project and looking for a break from the city, Noble set off to film Tableland, a documentary about food producers across Canada and the United States.
